The Carol Burnett Show - Let's Bump Up the Lights

Howie Green READ TIME: 1 MIN.

TV Special on DVD
Featuring Carol Burnett, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner.

How can you not love Carol Burnett? Her TV show, a top rated show for 11 years, made us laugh at her and her crew of jovial wackos making each other laugh. She's funny lady.

This new DVD is a CBS TV release and it was produced as a 1-hour TV special that just features the part of the show where Carol "Bumps up the lights" and takes questions from the audience. So there is no script, it's just Carol, Harvey, Tim, Vickie and Lyle interacting with the audience and each other and, in the process, being very funny. This a bunch of very silly people who, a couple decades after the show went off the air, are obviously still friends and can still make each other laugh. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times while viewing this silly DVD.

Part of the fun in watching this show is seeing the many film clips from Carol's old shows in which Carol and crew appear in the most outrageous Bob Mackie nightmare costumes and hair styles. What on earth were they thinking?

And yes, she does the Tarzan yell.
