Watch: Trixie Mattel Drops the 'Gay HBO Max Song' for Pride
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of HBO, isn't shirking from being associated with Pride. They have "teamed up with DJ/drag superstar Trixie Mattel on a new song intended to celebrate Pride. And oh yeah, it also honors HBO Max," writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Called the "Gay HBO Max Song," it was released on Friday, June 27. The title reflects the rebranded name for Max that is to be made sometime this summer. A third-party rep told THR that the music video is meant to "amplify queer joy."
"The single lays a few very meme-able quotes from HBO/Max shows atop the beat, including Sydney Sweeney's "I've never been happier!" line from 'Euphoria,' Jennifer Coolidge's 'These gays are trying to kill me!' from 'The White Lotus,' 'Whatever happened to fun?' from 'Sex and the City '– and others. The selections mark 'HBO Max's most iconic quotes' as 'uplifted and made relevant by the queer community,' the pitch to press reads."
There are cuts also from "Succession,", "Girls," "The Comeback," "Trixie Motel," and "Beleza Fatal" ("Scars of Beauty"), which are all currently streaming on Max. But alas, there are no quotes from Christine Baranski from "The Gilded Age," the streamers latest queer fave.
