Nicholas Galitzine Teases Bulked Up He-Man Look

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Nicholas Galitzine is prepping for his first superhero role – that of He-Man in the upcoming "Masters of the Universe" – and from the looks of things, he is taking it seriously.

"On Dec. 18, the actor shared a photo on his Instagram Stories standing next to his lit up Christmas tree," People magazine writes. "The 30-year-old's massive physical transformation was striking; his defined muscles were visible under his long-sleeved white t-shirt. He was also sporting black shorts and a longer hairstyle."

Last May, Galitzine announced landing the role on Instagram, beating out actors Kyle Allen and Noah Centineo who were also up for the role.

"By the Power of Greyskull, I HAVE THE POWER," Galitzine wrote at the time. "I'm so beyond proud to announce that I will be playing Adam, Prince of Eternia in 'Masters of the Universe'. It has been a dream for so long to play someone of his heart, humour and heroism, I cannot wait to get started."

Those with long memories will recall a previous film based on the Mattel franchise released in 1987 Dolph Lundgren. It was slammed by critics and was pulled from theaters after three weeks.

The new film is currently slated for a June 5, 2026 release and is based on the Mattel line which launched in 1982, alongside the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cartoon, which ran from 1983 to 1985. The animated series was rebooted on Netflix in 2021.

Variety writes that the new film is to be directed by Travis Knight for Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel with a script by Chris Butler. The project has been in the planning stages for quite some time. "The project was set up at Warner Bros. and Sony before moving to Netflix, which axed the film in 2023 over budget concerns. Countless directors, including 'Kung Fu Panda' filmmaker John Stevenson, 'Wicked' helmer Jon M. Chu, "Charlie's Angels" filmmaker McG and 'The Lost City' duo Aaron and Adam Nee, have cycled through the movie since 2007. 'West Side Story' actor Kyle Allen was at one point attached to play He-Man; it's unclear when those talks fell apart."

ENews adds that Galitzine "has been keeping himself busy as of late with a sequel to 'Red, White & Royal Blue' coming down the pipeline for him and costar Taylor Zakhar Perez, as well as the potential follow up to 'The Idea of You' alongside Anne Hathaway."
