Bowen Yang Reveals Snipped 'Wicked' Footage Showed Shirtless Jonathan Bailey and Ethan Slater

Bowen Yang spilled the tea on what you didn't see in "Wicked, Part One" – namely, Jonathan Bailey's Fiyero and Ethan Slater's Boq "ripping their shirts off" in a moment of brotastic exuberance, with Bailey "flexing" his ripped physique.
Sadly, that moment was left on the editing room floor due to time constraints.
"News of the deleted scene comes from a new episode of the Just Trish podcast," Vulture detailed, narrating how Yang let slip how "jacked under that shirt" Slater proved to be.
The moment was intended to fall in the midst of a montage, Yang explained, that would have taken place immediately following the song "Popular" and before "Not Your Girl." The purpose of the montage, the "Saturday Night Live" regular explained, was to "show the audience that these are all friends now: Fiyero, Galinda, Elphaba, Nessa, and Boq, the five of them running around, hanging out."
And letting it all hang out, too: "You were supposed to see Jonathan Bailey in his full shirtless glory, flexing," Yang told host Trisha Paytas, "and then Boq being insecure and wanting to look hot too, like take his shirt off."
All this was a setup to a visual punchline, Yang said: "But then it's like, Oh, wait, Ethan's got a great body."
The lost footage would have contained a "Wizard of Oz" deep cut as as well as explaining a moment in the new movie. "The reason why Elphaba has all those poppies is because they cut a thing where they're in a poppy field and they pick flowers and they're laughing, having a great time," Yang related.
Noted Just Jared in its report on the exchange, "Bowen said the scene was cut because the movie was already so long, but host Trisha Paytas said, 'I think people would have loved a three-hour movie if that was included.'"
Is that the sound of an impending director's cut we hear?
