Nicole Kidman spilled a few drops of tea about a third season for her hit HBO dark comedy, saying the show is "in good shape" for another round of episodes, Variety reported.

The entertainment magazine relayed that "Nicole Kidman and her 'Big Little Lies' co-star Reese Witherspoon reunited for a recent Vanity Fair video interview and briefly touched upon a potential third season of their Emmy-winning HBO series."

Witherspoon said in the interview that Kidman "has already said too much," having spoken about the prospects for a third season before.

Kidman defended her loose-lipped comments, saying, "I got excited!" Variety detailed.

However, Kidman went on to add: "We need to shut up. There's a whole thing about how you should never talk about something until you've done it because if you talk about doing it then it's the dopamine hit of doing it and you feel like you've done it. It's a scientific study."

Evidently still excited, though, Kidman declared, "We're moving fast and furious" on a new season.

"Liane is delivering the book," the acclaimed actor said, referring to Liane Moriarty, the author of the 2014 novel on which the series is based. "We're in good shape."

As reported last autumn, Kidman tossed fans a juicy bone last November, saying, "I loved 'Big Little Lies,'" and adding: "We will be bringing you a third one, just FYI."

A couple of months later, unnamed "sources" seemed to confirm Kidman's comment, saying that she and Witherspoon – who also produce the series – were preparing to pitch an idea for a third season to HBO.

The Hollywood Reporter, which broke that story, noted that a third season might give the cable network a boost, given that it "would bring back one of the cabler's most prestigious and star-studded shows following a year in which the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed network said farewell to awards darlings 'Succession' and 'Barry,' with the conclusion of 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' set for this year."

The report recalled that prospects for more of the David E. Kelley-created series seemed dim thanks to Kidman and Witherspoon juggling other projects. The death of Jean-Marc Vallée also cast a pall, given that under his direction the first season became an awards juggernaut, winning eight out of 16 Emmy nominations (including Best Director for Vallée), as well as picking up Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
