Watch: Hulu Brings Gay Dating Shows to U.S. Audiences for Pride Month

Hulu will be expanding its rainbow-hued Pride Month offerings to American audiences with the importation of two queer UK dating shows, both hosted by Dannii Minogue.

"Produced by ITV Studios-backed Twofour, the award-winning 'I Kissed A Boy' aired last year and 'I Kissed A Girl' is currently on BBC Three and iPlayer," Deadline detailed.

"The basic concept is that couples are matched up by experts and kiss in the seconds they first meet," the writeup added. "They then live in a 'Love Island'-style villa in which they can remain with the couples they are first paired with or seek alternatives, while some are slowly eliminated."

While the U.S. market has seen a few queer dating shows over the years, such as Bravo's six-episode "Boy Meets Boy" from 2003 and a queer edition of "The Ultimatum" that streamed on Netflix last year – not to mention "The Bachelor" star Colton Underwood's emergence from the closet after his season on that show – the genre is largely dominated by heterosexual contestants.

The internet flew into a brief tizzy earlier this month when it was erroneously reported that Dannii Minogue, the sister of pop singer Kylie Minogue and an LGBTQ+ ally, had "tearfully" come out – a complete misrepresentation of Minogue's comments at a Q&A following a screening of "I Kissed a Girl."

"'I Kissed A Boy' will air on Hulu on June 15 and 'I Kissed A Girl' – which hasn't yet finished its BBC run – will be on the streamer later this year," Deadline noted. "Hulu has also bought BBC YA drama 'Wreck' Season 2, along with ITV's 'An Audience with Kylie' for the Hulu Has Pride month."
