Ryan O'Connell Gives Update on 'Special' Season 2: Expect 'A Lot More Gay Sex'

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Ryan O'Connell, the creator/writer/star of the Netflix comedy "Special," offered an update on his series in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, teasing that fans can expect "a lot more gay sex."

"Special" follows O'Connell, openly gay and with mild cerebral palsy, playing a fictionalized version of himself as he navigates his love life and career. Speaking with EW, he said that filming half of the second season finished when the coronavirus shut down production across Hollywood. He said he's been editing four of the eight episodes "full time."

He also promised Season 2 of his show will be just as sexual as Season 1.

"I remember when I started having sex when I was 17 – not to brag – I didn't know anything about anal sex at all," O'Connell said. "I went to Barnes & Noble and got this book called 'Anal Pleasure and Health' that was for straight people. L-O-actual-L... For like three months, I thought you could only have sex on your stomach."

He also stressed that he's unsure when Season 2 will debut on Netflix, as the pandemic is still preventing projects from being made.
