Las Vegas Sands and Miss Teen USA Support Nevada Partnership For Homeless Youth

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Miss Teen USA are teaming up to host a special pack build event benefiting Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY) on Thursday, July 28. The Miss Teen USA contestants will participate in a morning of community service to create 150 impact bags, including hygiene kits and sack lunch bags, for youth living in low-income communities. The overall group will be broken into three teams that will rotate throughout the event, working at each of the survival stations for 20 minutes.

Stations include hygiene kits (containing travel-sized Chapstick, a bar of soap, deodorant, wash cloth, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, lotion, toothbrush, mouthwash and toothpaste); sack lunch super hero (includes Famous Amos cookies, kettle cooked chips, fruit snacks, turkey jerky, granola bar and apple juice); and Post-It notes reading series (pageant volunteers will write a personal memento on a Post-It note to fill in a reusable water bottle given to each youth that they can share with the NPHY staff, family and friends).

With the help of Las Vegas Sands Corp and Miss Teen USA, more than 100 youth will begin the school year with much needed hygiene supplies, so parents can focus their funds on housing and daily living expenses. In addition, the lunch boxes will provide youth with a convenient carrier to store snacks and meals.

NPHY is the most comprehensive service provider for the thousands of homeless youth in Southern Nevada, serving hundreds of youth through their core programs and touching the lives of thousands more through outreach each year.

The event will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 at The Venetian Las Vegas (Titian Ballrooms 2201-2202 and 2301-2302), 3355 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
