Carly Rae Jepson Premieres Video 'Your Type' on Vevo
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Multi-platinum, GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Carly Rae Jepsen premieres the video for her new single "Your Type" this week on Vevo. Directed by filmmaker Gia Coppola, the video was shot at Los Candiles Night Club in Los Angeles.
Says Coppola, "Carly is not only super kind and genuine but she's inspires me with her honesty in her craft. She's forward moving!"
Gia Coppola had such a confident vision for the music video of "Your Type" that I was tempted to just throw myself into the world she was creating. I was so glad I did, as the cinematic story that evolved in the short life of the song was remarkable. I couldn't be prouder of the outcome, says Jepsen.
Check out the video HERE.
Jepsen will hit the road for a fall headlining tour in support of her critically acclaimed new album "EMOTION," which was released in August via Schoolboy Records/Interscope. The tour kicks off on November 9 in Washington DC with stops in Boston, New York City and Philadelphia.
Carly will also star as the iconic Pink Lady, "Frenchy," in "GREASE: LIVE," which airs Sunday, January 31 (7:00-10:00 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Jepsen joins the multi-talented ensemble cast, including Julianne Hough ("Safe Haven," "Rock of Ages") as "Sandy," Aaron Tveit ("Graceland," "Les Miserables") as "Danny," Vanessa Hudgens (Broadway's "Gigi," "Spring Breakers") as "Rizzo," Carlos PenaVega ("Spare Parts," "Big Time Rush") as "Kenickie," Keke Palmer ("SCREAM QUEENS," "Masters of Sex") as "Marty," Kether Donohue ("You're The Worst") as "Jan" and David Del Rio ("Spare Parts," "The Troop") as "Putzie."
"EMOTION" has earned Jepsen a host of rave reviews, with several outlets -- including TIME, Entertainment Weekly, People, Stereogum, Vulture, Complex, Newsday, Noisey, US Weekly, and PopCrush -- declaring it the pop album of the year so far. Rolling Stone has called "EMOTION" a "pop masterclass," while New York magazine raves that it is "rapturous, hook-filled... as big and churning as tidal waves... a joyful freedom from the pop game's stuffy rules."
The New York Times notes that "EMOTION" is "brimming with potential radio singles ripe for group sing-alongs." Two of those singles have already been released, "Run Away With Me" and "I Really Like You." The latter became a global Top 40 hit, and its video is Vevo Certified with over 100 million views.
"EMOTION" is the follow-up to Jepsen's U.S. debut album "Kiss," which featured her blockbuster break-out hit "Call Me Maybe." The single climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Singles charts in over 47 countries and has sold over 18 million singles worldwide to date. It earned Jepsen 2012 GRAMMY nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year. "Kiss" also spawned the follow-up hit "Good Time," a duet with Owl City, which has been certified double-platinum. Jepsen spent much of 2014 starring in the Broadway production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella," earning rave reviews.
