After years of speculation and rumors, Miley Cyrus has officially come out publicly as bisexual. In a revealing new interview, the 22-year-old former Disney Channel superstar disclosed that she knew she liked women during her "Hannah Montana" days.

In an exclusive interview with Paper magazine, Miley recounts telling her mother about how she was attracted to both boys and girls when she was 14 years old.

"I remember telling her I admire women in a different way. And she asked me what that meant. And I said, I love them. I love them like I love boys," Miley said. "And it was so hard for her to understand. She didn't want me to be judged and she didn't want me to go to hell. But she believes in me more than she believes in any god. I just asked for her to accept me. And she has."

Miley's public admission of her sexuality put to rest rumors that have followed the pop star for years.

In a 2013 article published by Life & Style, an unnamed source told the publication that Miley "is definitely bisexual. She has women over to her house all the time and hooks up with them." The source went on to say, "lately she is more interested in women than men."

Prior to the Life & Style story, Cyrus told the Toronto Sun "being a lesbian isn't a bad thing. So if you think I look like I'm a lesbian, I'm not offended." She continued. "I've been called much worse. Being a lesbian is a compliment more than what else they call me."

A long supporter of the LGBT community, in 2011, Cyrus had an equality sign tattooed on her middle finger in support of same-sex marriage.
