Culture Clash Crosses the Border to Boston, ArtEmerson

EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Ric Salinas, Herbert Siguenza and Richard Montoya return to Boston celebrating their 30th Anniversary as the most prominent Chicano?Latino performance troupe in the country, Culture Clash.

ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage brings the "Culture Clash 30th Anniversary Tour: The Muse & Morros" all the way across the country (from Los Angeles) to the Jackie Liebergott Black Box at Emerson/Paramount Center in Boston, March 11 through 29.

From Southern California, these masters of storytelling and social anthropology remix iconic moments from their signature satiric, comedic political commentary including sketches told from Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Washington D.C. and Miami. This unmistakable trio of writer/actors digs deep into America's racialized, radicalized culture, delivering an evening of raucous theatre without borders.

Out of the activism of San Francisco's Mission District, Culture Clash sharpened their focus, and their bite, on a decades?long road trip through Latino cultures in cities around the US, creating a series of comic documentary performances based in communities as far flung as Miami, San Diego, Washington, DC, NY, Los Angeles and Boston.

They've also created new works for Oregon Shakespeare Festival, La Jolla Playhouse, Yale Repertory Theater and Center Theater Group in Los Angeles. Their videos, short films and art exhibits have been shown at The Smithsonian; The Whitney Museum of American Art; Sundance Film Festival; The San Juan, Puerto Rico Film and Video Festival; The Art Institute of Boston; Palm Springs Film Festival and The
Los Angeles Film Festival, among others.

"Culture Clash 30th Anniversary Tour: Muse & Morros," by Culture Clash runs March 11 through 29 at the Jackie Liebergott Black Box at the Emerson/Paramount Center (559 Washington Street in Boston's historic theatre district).
