Dan Savage Featured at Jewish Literary Festival

Sex columnist Dan Savage and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, are among the featured speakers at this year's Jewish Literary Festival in Washington.

The festival runs through Oct. 16 at the D.C. Jewish Community Center and at sites across the area.

Savage, a columnist and gay rights activist, is schedule to speak Saturday about his latest book and about sex, love and marriage. Savage is the co-founder of the It Gets Better Project to combat suicides among gay youth.

A children's reading event is scheduled for Sunday with a special appearance by Elmo.

Wasserman Schultz is the featured speaker on the festival's closing night, Oct. 16. She will discuss her new book "For the Next Generation: A Wake-Up Call to Solving Our Nation's Problems."
