Gay Boston Cop in Trouble for Escorting Porn Stars to Machine
A Boston cop's alleged cruiser escort of two gay porn star strippers from Logan airport to a popular nightclub sparked criticism yesterday from one city councilor.
Officer Lawrence Craven, 45, who is openly gay, was placed on desk duty this week while police investigate allegations he escorted porn stars Jordan and Aden Jaric, known as the "Brangelina" of the same-sex porn world, to Machine, a gay nightclub, last October.
"It's a blatant misuse of city and police resources, and it's obviously not a public safety priority to be escorting strippers to a nightclub," said City Councilor Stephen Murphy, chairman of the public safety committee.
The Jarics posted on their blog a photo they supposedly took from inside a car following a BPD cruiser with flashing lights. The photo was allegedly taken Oct. 24, 2008.
BPD spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll confirmed that Craven, who joined the department in 1987, allegedly gave the escort. He was working that night and has been transferred. His record shows no previous sustained Internal Affairs complaints.
A police source said Craven was escorting the Jarics from Logan International Airport to the Boylston Street club. The couple also appeared at Trixx nightclub in Providence, which allows all-nude dancing, the following night and allegedly performed a sex act in front of an audience, which is permitted in adult entertainment clubs in Providence.
One retired Boston police lieutenant who's worked with Craven in the past said it's not unusual for cops to give escorts. "I've done it countless times," he said. "It's very difficult to give people directions, especially at night."
The hunky Jarics perform at strip clubs across the country and since 2007 have starred in several porn films together.
